Sometimes, in storytime, a kid will reveal a little more about his home life than his parents would probably approve of. Consider this exchange I had today with a young man. First, you should know (if you’re someone who doesn’t know me personally — I hope there are a few of you reading this!), that I have pretty short hair “for a girl”, the kids would say. We were settling down for storytime, and I was hearing comments about my “boy” haircut.
Young man: “My aunt cuts my hair.”
Me: “Really? That’s nice.”
Young man: “But she doesn’t anymore because my uncle crashed into the salon.”
Oops.
