The ALA Children’s book awards were announced this morning. The lucky winners are:
Caldecott Medal (award goes to the illustrator, in bold):
- Pinkney, Jerry. The Lion and the Mouse, illustrated by Jerry Pinkney. [Yay!]
Caldecott Honors:
- Scanlon, Liz. All the World, illustrated by Marla Frazee.
- Sidman, Joyce. Red Sings from Treetops: A Year in Colors, illustrated by Pamela Zagarenski.
Newbery Medal:
- Stead, Rebecca. When You Reach Me. [Double yay!]
Newbery Honors:
- Hoose, Phillip. Claudette Colvin, Twice Toward Justice.
- Kelly, Jacqueline. The Evolution of Calpurnia Tate. [loved it!]
- Lin, Grace. Where the Mountain Meets the Moon.
